Passengership Wappen von Borkum
Scale: 1/250
Skill Level: medium
Size (LxWxH): 177x30x48 mm (6x1x1 inch)
With this beautiful passenger ship Friedrich Pohl designed another ship for HMV which you can encounter at the German coast during summer. Travellers to Borkum have probably seen the ship more than once. With a medium skill level and a nice level of details this model is perfect for making between two big ones or at the weekend.
Wappen von Borkum is another very well done model designed by Friedrich Pohl, the HMV specialist for smaller ships from the German coast. This ferryboat has some history and with those benches and life rafts on deck it makes a quite impressive model.
You don't need extensive skills to build the Wappen von Borkum. If you take care of the horizontal score on the skin the hull makes no problems. Once you have attached the protecting rib, assembly goes smoothly. OK - the benches and the life rafts ask for a little bulk production. The speedboat and the funnels are a bit more demanding. The latter are curved and therefore a bit difficult to assemble. Accurate cutting and careful use of glue will lead you to a proper result though.
When we built the model for the title the extra available Lasercut Set was not yet finished. But the cut out railing gives you a hint how the model will look like with the accessory set. However we had a lot of fun building the Wappen von Borkum and she's a great sample of HMV medium skill level - perfect either in between two bigger models or as an exercise for those who want to try a difficult HMV model next.
