Around the year 1140, the Ising St. Martin's Church was built in the Romanesque style after a fire destroyed the previous wooden church. Starting in 1250, modifications and additions in the Gothic style were made. In 1299, the church was taken over by the Knights Hospitaller and has belonged to the Protestant church again since 1869. Since 2005, the church has been located on the Martinsweg, the "Via Sancti Martini," which leads from the birthplace of Saint Martin in Hungary to his burial site in Tours, France.
