St Remigius’ is the parish Church in Dahenfeld, a village on the outskirts of Neckarsulm . It is named after the Bishop of Reims who converted the Franks and in 496 baptised their king, Clovis.

This building dates from 1738. It was built around the old, crumbling 14th century church; in 1745 the earlier church, which stood inside the new one, was demolished. In 1748 the new church was finally consecrated.

In 1735 is the time of the old church, a particularly noteworthy incident occurred which was reported by numerous witnesses – red liquid was observed flowing from the wounds of Christ on the crucifix. This miraculous blood led to the church becoming a centre for pilgrimage in the following decades and indeed at times there were more pilgrims than residents in the village.

The church required constant expensive maintenance throughout time. The latest renovations were completed in 2009 and have resulted in the church being seen as a small, but very fine, jewel.
