The Arbeitskreis Geschichte des Kartonmodellbaus has once again provided us with a truly beautiful reprint. By today's standards, the model may seem simple, but the well-known designer Hubert Siegmund has once again achieved something remarkable. And for those who wish, the model can certainly be extensively refined. However, this classic is definitely worth building straight from the sheet as it is.
The papermodel was published in 1971 by J.F. Schreiber Publishing under the number JFS 71647 at a 1:200 scale, very accurately and true to the original, designed by Hubert Siegmund. In this respect, this design differs significantly from the model of the same name JFS 07950/53, also at a 1:200 scale, from 1958.
The hull is constructed using a shell design with only a few cross frames and no central frame. After installing the foremost frame, the sleek shape of the hull becomes very clear. Once the deck is installed, which uses the inner bulwark as glue tabs, a torsion-resistant hull is created.

The ship depicted here was converted into a luxury yacht in the early 1950s by Aristotle Socrates Onassis, a Greek shipping magnate, from a frigate of the 'River-class.' His widow later gifted it to the Greek state, and after further modifications, the ship still sails today under the Maltese flag as the 'Christina O.' The ship, originally named 'Christina,' was nearly 100 meters long and had a displacement of 2,250 tons. It was extravagantly furnished.
